A varietal Spanish red wine of bodega Vinyes d’Olivardots, Vinyes d’Olivardots Vd’O 5 is one of the bottlings of the «Varietals de Terrer» collection, which comprises the top-tier wines of the winery.
Produced in the northern Catalan region of L’Empordà, a stone’s throw away from the French border, this Crianza red wine wine is made solely from Grenache vines planted in 2002 in Paratge Olivardots, a vineyard composed of granitic and sandy soils.
Harvested by hand and exactingly selected, the grapes were fermented and then macerated for a long period of time in stainless steel tanks.
After that, Vinyes d’Olivardots Vd’O 5.18 was pressed and transferred into French oak barrels. There, it completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, with frequent pump-overs and punch-downs.
This varietal Empordà red wine was not clarified or filtered prior to its bottling. Before being released onto the market, it was further aged for 12 months in the bottle.
