Produced by Remírez de Ganuza, Viña Coqueta is a single vineyard Spanish red wine made from a blend of Tempranillo and Graciano. The grapes come solely from Finca La Coqueta, an exceptional site located in Samaniego, in the very heart of La Rioja Alavesa.
Harvested by hand and selected on site, once in the cellar the grape bunches were first refrigerated for 24 hours. Then the upper grapes were separated from the lower ones (which are used for crafting the carbonic maceration wine Erre Punto).
Fermented in stainless steel tanks and French oak vats, malolactic fermentation was carried out in new French (80%) and American oak barrels, where Viña Coqueta Reserva 2009 was aged for 26 months. Finally, this Reserva red wine was aged for a further 2 years in the bottle.
Decant 1 hour before drinking.
