Produced by world-famous winemaker Raúl Pérez, Valtuille Vino de Villa is a blended Spanish red wine made from vineyards scattered across the village of Valtuille de Abajo, in the DO Bierzo.
This Village Wine (Vino de Villa) is a blend of Mencía, Bastardo (aka Trousseau) and Alicante Bouschet (aka Garnacha Tintorera), with a brushstroke of white varieties.
North-oriented, the vines are 40 to 100 years old.
Harvested by hand, the grapes were spontaneously fermented whole-bunch in open wooden vats. After a 60-day maceration with a daily punch-down of the solid skin cap, the wine was racked, pressed and left to rest for 40 to 50 days.
After that, Valtuille Vino de Villa 2020 was transferred into 225 and 500-litre French oak barrels and aged for 12 months. Finally, the barrels were sampled and the wine was bottled.
Again, the astounding winemaking talent of Raúl Pérez shines through this Crianza red wine
