The prestigious Bodegas Valduero produces Valduero 2 Cotas Reserva from vineyards situated at 840 and 900 metres above sea level, the two highest areas in DO Ribera del Duero. The soils are made from clay and limestone, punctuated by areas of sand. Climate is continental.
Made solely from Tinto Fino grapes, this Spanish red wine was sourced from over 50-year old, low-yielding vines.
Harvested by hand and selected on site, the grapes were fermented and macerated under controlled temperature for 8 days.
Then this reserva red wine was macerated for 10 days with daily pump-overs. The wine was subsequently transferred into oak barrels of three different origins (French, American and Central European.)
After that, Valduero 2 Cotas Reserva 2014 was aged for 30 months in the barrels and for a further 18 months in the bottle.
Slowly approaching its peak, but not quite there yet, this red wine from Ribera del Duero should be decanted 1 hour before drinking.
