Produced by world-class winemaker Raúl Pérez, Ultreia Mencía is a single parcel Spanish red wine made solely from Mencía.
The grapes were sorted from Las Villegas, a tiny plot with sandy soils situated at 580 metres of altitude, in the village of Valtuille de Abajo, DO Bierzo.
Picked by hand between late August and early September, the grapes were whole-bunch fermented in open oak vats with no temperature control, and subsequently macerated for a long period of time (60+ days).
After that, Ultreia Mencía 2020 was aged for 12 months in 2nd year French oak barrels. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Terroir-bound and elegant, this Crianza red wine shows again the magic touch of Raúl Pérez, its renowned creator.
