Produced by Finca Viladellops, Turó de Les Abelles is an interesting, under-the-radar Spanish red wine produced mainly from Grenache and a 10% Syrah.
The grapes are sourced from over 25-year-old, organically farmed vines planted in the calcareous, fossil-rich soils of the Garraf Massif, a subzone of DO Penedès with a highly distinctive personality.
Picked by hand and transported to the cellar into 15 kg. boxes, after two selection processes the grapes were cold-macerated in open vats at a controlled temperature, after which the wine completed alcoholic fermentation.
Then Turó de les Abelles 2019 was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. After blending the best samples, the wine was bottled in March 2021 and aged for a further 12 months in the cellar before its release onto the market.

| Nose | This blend of Grenache and Syrah carries lively aromas of ripe strawberries and redcurrants, with a hint of blackberries and deep mineral undertones coming from the marine soils of the Garraf Massif. After a while, the wine suggests some notes of spices, flowers and hints of dry undergrowth. |
