The red wine Teixar from Celler Vinyes Domènech is one of the scarce varietal Hairy Grenache wines produced in Spain. Indigenous to Catalonia, this variety is a mutation of Grenache which grows a characteristic fuzz on the leaves.
Since 2012, this Spanish red wine from Montsant bears the seal «Vi de Finca Qualificada» (meaning «Certified Estate Wine»), Catalonia’s highest quality distinction.
Farmed following organic and biodynamic practices, the grapes were sourced from over 70-year-old vines grown in a single 3-hectare vineyard with rocky soils.
First the grapes were meticulously harvested. Then the wine must was divided in 7 batches, each of which was fermented with indigenous yeasts.
After that, this red wine from Montsant was blended and aged for 14 months in French oak barrels.
Finally, Teixar 2017 was further aged for several months in the bottle prior to its commercial release.
Decant this organic red wine a minimum of 1 hour before drinking.
