Produced by Celler Comunica, Suc de Sauló is a totally indigenous, unoaked Spanish red wine from DO Montsant.
An endearing blend of Samsó (Carignan) and Hairy Grenache, this red wine from Montsant is sourced from 25 to 70-year-old vineyards with granitic soils-sauló is the local name for a type of granitic sand-situated near the village of Falset, at 350 metres of altitude.
Hand-picked and selected on site, the grapes were destemmed before being macerated and fermented for a period of 15 days in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature, with periodic pump-overs.
After that, the red wine Suc de Sauló 2018 remained in the fermentation tanks for 10 to 12 months on its lees. After that, it went straight into the bottle. This Crianza red wine hence saw no oak whatsoever.
Decant 30 minutes before drinking.
