The flagship wine of the Alemany i Corrió winery, Sot Lefriec is a truly garage wine, one of the first ever produced in Catalonia. Besides that, this Spanish red wine is also one of the best produced in Penedès.
Made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, complemented with Carignan coming from 70-year-old vineyards, the grapes were painstainkingly selected both at the vineyard and in the cellar. Then 90% of them were destemmed, and in order to craft this high-end Crianza red wine every variety was separately vinified according to its specific characteristics and needs.
The grapes were fermented for 4 weeks in stainless steel tanks and left in contact with the lees for a further week. Then this red wine from Penedès was blended and transferred into new and 2nd year French oak barrels to complete malolactic fermentation.
Finally, the wine was aged for 22 months. In order to preserve its great qualities, Sot Lefriec 2015 was neither filtered nor clarified prior to its bottling.
It is highly advisable that you decant this wine for a minimum of 1 hour before you drink it.

| Nose | Extremely complex, this blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Carignan certainly benefits greatly from a prolonged aeration. Mineral undertones, red berries, black fruit, notes of garrigue and underbush, toast, sesame seeds, liquorice, dry fruit, cocoa, arabica coffe, liquor-infused fruit, intriguing remembrances of honey and wax and a dash of ink. |

| Palate | Meaty, bold and voluminous, with slightly rugged tannins and a wonderful acidity that brings freshness to the palate. The parade of flavours is almost endless, as it was the case on the nose. Beside the fruit, the mineral and the spices, particularly seductive are the notes of bitter almonds and the vermouth-like remembrances of bitter herbs that define the wine's ending. This wine of Alemany i Corrió is quite an experience. |
