This Spanish red wine is made exclusively from grapes coming from a single estate, called Finca La Llana, belonging to the DOCa Rioja.
A varietal Tempranillo, Sierra Cantabria Cuvée is crafted from vineyards located around the town of Labastida. The organically farmed plants are over 30 years of age, and they are planted in sandy soils, with some gravel and pebble stones on the surface.
Once in the premises of the Viñedos Sierra Cantabria winery, the grapes were meticulously selected and destemmed. Then the fruit was macerated for 2 days with indigenous yeasts under strict temperature control in stainless steel tanks. After a two-week maceration with the skins, the wine must completed malolactic fermentation in oak barrels. Finally, Sierra Cantabria Cuvée 2016 was aged for 12 months in 85% French and 15% American oak barrels, 40% new.
This red wine from Rioja was not filtered before its bottling.
Aerate 20 minutes before drinking.
