One of the mid-range wines of the Scala Dei winery, Scala Dei Prior is a blend of Grenache, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah sorted from 35 to 65-year-old vineyards planted in slate (llicorella) soils at altitudes from 400 to 600 metres, in the heart of DOQ Priorat.
Hand-harvested in little boxes and selected on site and in the cellar, the grapes were destemmed, gently crushed and fermented in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature. After that, this Spanish red wine was transferred into French oak barrels and French oak vats for 12 months.
Finally, Scala Dei Prior 2019 was bottled and aged for a further 12 months before its commercial release.
It is advisable to decant this Crianza red wine at least 30 minutes before drinking.
