Produced by Josep Grau through his company Josep Grau Viticultor, Regina is an atypical, hugely interesting Spanish rosé wine from Montsant.
The wine is made from a blend of 90% Grenache and 10% White Grenache. Both come from Finca Les Comes, an organically farmed 1-hectare parcel composed of slate and limestones soils, planted with 90-year-old vines.
All of the farming procedures were performed manually, from harvesting to bottling and labeling. Spontaneous fermentation took place in 600-litre Austro-German oak barrels using indigenous yeasts. Then, the wine was aged on its lees for 7 months.
Going beyond the low-profile, light-hearted rosé wines that dominate the market, Regina 2021 sets a new paradigm for Catalan rosé wines because of its noteworthy complexity.
Production of this Crianza rosé wine from Montsant is very limited.
