The maverick winemaker David Sampedro Gil crafts the splendid Phincas Thousand Milks from a blend of grapes sorted from two vineyards, Finca Lali and Finca La Abejera, located in Rioja Alavesa.
The main variety of this Spanish white wine is Viura (aka Macabeo), sorted from vineyards planted in 1910. It is complemented with Malvasía and White Grenache, both planted in 1929.
The harvest of this organic white wine was carried out, as with all of the wines made by David Sampedro – one of La Rioja’s new «terroirists» – according to the specifications of the biodynamic calendar.
The grapes were destemmed, gently stomped and spontaneously fermented in tanks. After that, Phincas Thousand Milks 2018 was aged for 36 months in French oak barrels with frequent lees-stirrings.
Aerate this white wine from Rioja at least 30 minutes before drinking.
Pair this Crianza white wine with shrimp, white meat dishes and baked fish recipes.
