A wine by Álvaro Palacios, one of Spain’s most prestigious winemaker, Palacios Remondo La Montesa Magnum comes from La Rioja.
Made principally from Grenache, this Spanish red wine is complemented with some Tempranillo. The grapes were sourced from over 25-year-old vineyards located in the town of Alfaro. Located at an altitude of 550 metres above sea level, the vines are planted on limestone and ferrous-clay soils covered with pebble stones.
Hand-harvested, destemmed and gently crushed, first the grapes were cold macerated, and then they were fermented in stainless steel tanks with periodic punch-downs and pump-overs for 23 days. Malolactic fermentation of this red wine from La Rioja took place in 1st, 2nd and 3rd year 85% French and 15% American oak barrels.
After that, Palacios Remondo La Montesa 2019 Magnum was aged for 12 months in the barrels. Finally, it was gently clarified before bottling.
