Produced by Vinyes d’Olivardots, Gresa Expressió is made from 3 varieties planted in different types of soils in DO Empordà, a fact that brings a nice complexity to it.
The main component is Carignan (40%), coming from old, low-yielding vines grown in slate soils, plus a 35% Grenache and a 25% Syrah coming from vineyards with sandy and granitic soils, known as gresa in Empordà.
The grapes were picked by hand and selected twice. Once in the cellar, they were cold-macerated and then fermented in stainless steel tanks and French oak vats. After that, this reserva red wine was gently pressed, drawn-off and aged for 14 months in fine-grained French oak barrels with periodic stirrings.
This red wine from L’Empordà was not clarified or filtered before being bottled in July 2018.
An amazing feature of Gresa Expressió 2016 is that it is sold after having been aged for 5 years minimum in the bottle. Rather uncommon these days, the idea is to offer the customer a well-rounded wine with no rough edges.
Only 7,780 bottles produced.
Decant this vegan red wine a minimum of 1 hour before drinking.
