Born in the windswept Catalan region of L’Empordà, Negre dels Aspres is a characterful Spanish red wine produced by Vinyes dels Aspres.
Made from Lledoner Negre (the local name for Grenache), Syrah and Merlot, the grapes are sourced from several plots of vines with different soil compositions aged 10 to 35 years.
Harvested by hand and selected both in the vineyard and in the cellar, each grape variety was separately vinified. Carefully destemmed, the wine must was fermented and macerated in stainless steel tanks for 25 days.
After being drawn off, this red wine from Empordà was aged for 4 months. Then it was transferred into Allier French oak barrels, where it completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for 14 months.
Finally, Negre dels Aspres 2019 was clarified with egg whites prior to its bottling, and further aged for some months in the cellar prior to its release.
It is important to decant this Crianza red wine 1 hour before drinking.
