Produced by Bodegas Torres, Milmanda is one of the few Spanish Chardonnay wines which bears comparison with the great Chards from Burgundy and California.
This varietal Spanish white wine is sourced from vines grown in clay-limestone soils at 500 metres above seal level in DO Conca de Barberà, southern Catalonia. The vineyards are located near the Milmanda Castle, a medieval fortress that was used as a base by Christian knights during the Spanish Reconquista.
Somehow reversing the usual vinification process, the wine was fermented in 50% new oak barrels for 2-3 weeks. Then, only a 10% of this white wine from Conca de Barberà completed malolactic fermentation. After that, the wine was aged for 5 months in the barrels.
Once the process was completed, Milmanda 2019 was transferred into stainless steel tanks and aged for 10 months. It was bottled in July 2021.
Cherished by wine aficionados all over the world, this varietal Crianza white wine is one of Spain’s best white wines. This should evolve nicely in the bottle.
Only 5,355 bottles produced.
