The impressive Mestres Mas Via ranks among the best sparkling wines bearing the Cava label.
Exquisitely crafted by the Mestres winery, a company that embodies like no other the best Cava traditions, this Spanish sprarkling wine is made from vines over 60 years of age, coming from estate-owned vineyards located in the surroundings of Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, the heartland of Cava.
This Cava from Penedès is made from a blend in which age-worthy Xarel·lo takes the main part, complemented with 20% Macabeo and 15% Parellada. All of them were manually harvested and meticulously selected.
After that, this Cava Gran Reserva was separately fermented according to the variety, and subsequently aged for 12 months in chestnut barrels. Then this Cava from Penedès was blended and bottled. Finally, the wine underwent secondary fermentation and was aged for no less than 168 months – that is, 14 years – in the cellar.
A limited-edition sparkler made only in exceptional vintages, Mestres Mas Via 2006 was manually disgorged.
