This is a hugely interesting Spanish white wine produced in northern Catalonia, on the southern border of the Pyrenees.
Crafted by the Martí Fabra winery, Masia Carreras Blanc is made from a unique blend of five traditional Empordà varities.
Namely, the composition includes White Carignan, Grey Carignan (a variety different from both the red and the white ones), White Grenache, Grey Grenache (locally called Lledoner Roig or Garnatxa Roja) and Picapoll, all of them planted in slate, strongly acid soils constantly swept by Tramuntana, the harsh northern wind typical of the Catalonian-French borderland.
After a careful vinification, Masia Carreras Blanc 2020 was aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.
This one-of-a-kind Crianza white wine will improve considerably over the next years.
Decant this white wine from L’Empordà a minimum of 30 minutes before drinking.
