One of the bottlings of the «Vins Únics» (Unique Wines) collection from bodega Celler de Capçanes, Mas Tortó Brisat is a rather appealing Spanish white wine made solely from old-vines White Grenache.
The grapes are sourced from non-irrigated and organically farmed bushvines situated at 500 to 600 metres of altitude, in the heart of DO Montsant.
Hand-harvested in late August, the grapes were destemmed, stomped and macerated in 1,000-litre French oak vats. Following the style of the brisat wines, they were subsequently fermented with the skins and pipes of the grapes, during which process the solid skin cap was punched down on a daily basis.
After that, Mas Tortó Brisat 2022 was aged for 9 months in new 300-litre French oak barrels, with periodic lees-stirrings to enhace the creaminess and roundness of the wine.
The production of this Crianza white wine is ridiculously low. Only 800 bottles!
