That Spain is not only a land of great red wines, but of remarkable white wines as well, is nicely exemplified by Mas de Mancuso Macabeo.
Produced by the innovative Mas de Mancuso winery, this impressive Spanish white wine comes from the unlikeliest of places: DO Cariñena – a region in Aragón not to be confused with the grape variety of the same name.
A varietal Macabeo, this white wine from Aragón is sourced from over 60-year-old vineyards with slate soils situated at 670 metres of altitude, near the village of Almonacid de la Sierra.
Hand-picked and cold-macerated, the grapes were fermented in open stainless steel tanks. After that, the white wine Mas de Mancuso 2019 was aged in 500-litre French oak barrels for 16 months. It was bottled in February 2021.
Pair this Crianza red wine with oily fish and seafood rice recipes, white meat and soft cheeses.
