The production of Mas Candí Quatre Xarel·los has an interesting, almost sentimental history behind it.
A varietal Xarel·lo, this Spanish white wine is produced by bodega Mas Candí, the joint project of four winemakers, each of whom inherited a vineyard from their grandfathers.
Specifically, the vineyards are La Pura, in the village of Les Gunyoles, Mas Rossell in Font-Rubí, L’Angeleta in Pla del Penedés and Cal Martí in Subirats. The four towns are located in the highest area of DO Penedès. All four are around 60 years old.
Traditionally vinified, Mas Candí Quatre Xarel·los 2022 was aged for 8 months in stainless steel tanks, clay amphorae and chestnut, acacia, French and American oak barrels.
Such combination gives this Penedès white wine a particularly complex character.
