A varietal Grenache from the world-famous Sierra de Gredos wine producing region, the red wine Marañones takes the name from the area where the vineyards are located, characterized by an abundance of sloe bushes («Arañones» in Spanish).
This varietal Spanish red wine with DO Vinos de Madrid is made from 50 to 70-year-old bushvines grown in granitic soils.
North-oriented and organically farmed, the vineyards are at altitudes between 750 and 850 metres above sea level.
After the harvest, the whole bunches of grapes were cold-macerated and fermented with indigenous yeasts in 33-hectoliter French oak vats. Malolactic fermentation took place in 500-litre used French oak barrels. Finally, Marañones 2019 was aged in the barrels for 12 months.
This wine of Bodega Marañones was not filtered, stabilized or clarified prior to bottling.
Decant this Crianza red wine 1 hour before drinking.
