An exquisite varietal Tempranillo, Malpuesto is produced from a single vineyard planted in 1931 at an altitude of 520 metres above sea level. Grown in poor, sandy soils, the vines have very low yields.
Harvest was carried out by hand in little, 15-kg. boxes to prevent grape bruising. Once in the cellar, the grape bunches were destemmed, left uncrushed, and subsequently macerated and fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature.
Afterwards, this Spanish red wine of Bodegas Orben winery was transferred into new French oak barrels, where it underwent malolactic fermentation with periodic punch-downs and pump-overs.
Finally, Malpuesto 2020 was aged for over a period of 15 months in new, fine grained French oak barrels.
This Crianza red wine from La Rioja was neither clarified nor filtered prior to its bottling, so it may contain some sediment.
Produced only in exceptional vintages, it is advisable to decant this red wine from La Rioja 1 hour before drinking.

| Nose | Intense and multi-layered, this old-vines Tempranillo carries some creamy notes of black fruit, wild berries, blue flowers, and balsam, alongside some and aromas of cocoa powder, freshly ground coffee, cedar, leather, tobacco, dry earth, mineral and underbrush. Complex and seductive. |
