A wildly interesting Spanish white wine produced by star winemaker Raúl Pérez, Los Arrotos del Pendón Albarín is a varietal Albarín Blanco made from from over 50-year-old vines planted in clayey-rocky soils in the village of Villamañán, at an altitude over 800 metres above sea level.
This grapes of this variety indigenous to the region of Castilla y León were picked by hand and fermented with native yeasts in 500-litre oak barrels. After that, the vinification process of the white wine Los Arrotos del Pendón Albarín 2019 was given an unexpected twist. Indeed, this white wine was aged under a veil of flor -like a Sherry or a Vin Jaune from Jura- for a period of 4 to 5 months.
A truly singular wine for the combination of a rare variety and a unusual ageing process, this white wine from Tierra de León bears witness to the talent of the great Raúl Pérez.
