Produced by Raúl Pérez, one of Spain’s most prestigious winemakers, Los Arrotos del Pendón is a very interesting Spanish red wine.
It is made solely from Prieto Picudo, a red variety indigenous to the region of Castilla y León. Earthy, aromatic and with a high tannic content, after some years in the bottle it produces quite appealing wines.
The grapes come from a single, 2-hectare vineyard planted with over 100-year-old vines at an altitude over 900 metres in the village of Pajares de Otero, León.
Harvested by hand, the non-destemmed grape bunches were macerated for 2 months with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks. After that, Los Arrotos del Pendón 2019 was aged for 24 months in used French oak barrels.
Inquisitive wine aficionados should definitely try this uncommon Crianza red wine.
Aerate some time before drinking.
