One of the best introductions to the Priorat region, Les Crestes is produced by the Mas Doix winery.
This blended Spanish red wine is made from 80% Grenache, 10% Carignan and 10% Syrah. The grapes are sourced from terraced and sloped vineyards with llicorella (slate) soils 20 to 100 years old.
After a manual harvest, the grapes were selected twice and separately vinified according to each variety and each plot.
Alcoholic fermentation was carried out with periodic punch-downs. Then Les Crestes 2021 was drawn-off and aged for 8 months: one quarter in concrete diposits, one quarter in big oak vats and the rest in 2nd, 3rd and 4th year French oak barrels. The wine was not filtered or clarified before bottling.
It is advisable to decant this red wine from Priorat 30 minutes before drinking.
