Produced by Orto Vins, Les Comes d’Orto is a blended Spanish red wine from Montsant crafted following a philosophy of minimal intervention by the respected winemaker Joan Asens.
Made from Grenache, Samsó (Carignan) and Ull de Llebre (Tempranillo), the grapes were sorted from 40 to 70-year-old vines grown in three plots: Coma Nicolau, Coma Roquera and Coma Gigolà, each of which is planted with a single variety. The soils are composed of limestone, clay and gravel.
Each plot was separately harvested and traditionally vinified. The grapes underwent a long maceration process with the skins. Then they were fermented in stainless steel tanks and subsequently transferred into used French oak barrels.
Finally, Les Comes d’Orto 2019 completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for 12 months in the barrels.

| Nose | Well-defined and intense, this blend of Grenache, Samsó and Ull de Llebre conveys aromas of damson, mulberries and Amarena cherries, with hints of toast, spices and balsam, alongside some mineral undertones, blue flowers and undergrowth. |
