In 2009, the Pazo Barrantes winery, one of the top players in DO Rias Baixas, achieved its long-held ambition of releasing onto the market a high-end, age-worthy Spanish white wine made solely from Albariño.
A single vineyard wine, La Comtesse de Pazo Barrantes is produced exclusively from grapes coming from Pago Cacheiro, located in the subzone of Val del Salnés.
Harvest was performed manually. Destemmed to remove any element that could distort the expression of the fruit, the grapes were slightly pressed to extract only the most subtle and elegant aromas.
Then the wine must was drawn off and fermented for 60 days in 3,000 litre French wooden vats from Allier under a strict temperature control. This Crianza white wine was subsequently aged for 6 months on its lees.
After that, La Comtesse de Pazo Barrantes 2018 was aged for 12 months in vats, 2 of which on lees, and for a further 12 months in concrete tanks.
Age-worthy and complex, we strongly recommend that you aerate this white wine from Rías Baixas some time before you drink it.
