A varietal Carignan from DOQ Priorat, La Carenyeta de Cal Pla is produced by Celler Cal Pla, one of the oldest wineries in the region.
The grapes are sourced from 50 to 80-year-old vines planted in llicorella (slate) soils on the outskirts of Porrera.
The grapes were picked by hand and meticulously selected. Once in the cellar, this Spanish red wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature.
After that, the red wine La Carenyeta de Cal Pla 2016 was transferred into French oak barrels and aged for 14 months.
Characterful and terroir-bound, this Crianza red wine will pair excellently with stews, game recipes, and oily fish recipes.
