The name of this wine, Infiltrado, is a pun. In spanish, «Infiltrado» means two things: «unfiltered» and «infiltrator».
Made in Jumilla, Murcia, by the Hacienda del Carche winery, this Spanish red wine is a blend of Syrah and Monastrell (aka Mourvèdre) and Garnacha Tintorera (aka Alicante Bouschet).
Separately harvested, each variety was cold-soaked and fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. Then the wine was put into new French oak barrels, where malolactic fermentation was partially completed.
As its name suggests, Infiltrado 2022 was not filtered before bottling. This, in turn, explains the peculiar shape of its bottle, with one shoulder higher than the other. If there is any sediment in this vegan red wine, when you pour it the particles will be deposited there.
This young red wine from Jumilla is fresh and funny. Give it a try!
