Made from low-yielding vineyards located on the outskirts of Batea, DO Terra Alta, Herència Altés L’Estel is a blend of Grenache, Carignan and Syrah. This Spanish red wine was entirely produced from estate vineyards.
Each variety was hand-harvested and separately vinified. The grapes were cold-macerated for about 24 hours, destemmed, gently crushed and then transferred into stainless steel, concrete and oak diposits.
After macerating for some time they were fermented for 10 to 15 days under controlled temperature. Then the Grenache was transferred into 5,000-litre oak barrels and aged for 15 months. The other two varieties were transferred into 500 and 600-litre Austrian and French oak barrels, where they went through malolactic fermentation and were aged for 24 months.
After that, Herència Altés L’Estel 2019 was blended and gently filtered before being bottled.
