The first thing that puts Gran Claustro Reserva Brut Nature outside mainstream Cava is that it is crafted from a blend of the traditional Champagne grapes, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
The second fact is even more interesting. When Dwight D. Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States, visited Spain in 1959, the Castillo de Perelada winery was asked to produce a special wine to commemorate the visit. The winery then crafted the first Gran Claustro from a private selection of wines, and the resulting success encouraged Castillo Perelada to launch the new sparkler as a commercial product.
Produced following the traditional Champenoise method, after the vinification of each variety Gran Claustro Reserva Brut Nature 2016 was aged for a minimum of 24 months in the bottle.
Drink through 2023.
