Produced by Can Ràfols dels Caus, Gran Caus Clímax Brut Nature is made from over 20-year-old grapevines planted in the Garraf Massif, a mountain range overlooking the Mediterranean a 30-minute drive from Barcelona. The area has limestone soils with an abundance of marine fossils which bring a peculiar salinity and minerality to the grapes.
The 2018 vintage of this Spanish sparkling wine is, again, a blend of 70% Xarel·lo, 25% Macabeo and 5% Chenin.
Harvested by hand, the grapes were separately fermented and vinified. After the completion of secondary fermentation, Gran Caus Clímax Brut Nature 2018 was aged for 30 months in the bottle before its commercial release.
This is a truly distinctive organic red wine from Penedès.
