This remarkable organic Spanish white wine is made from vineyards located in the midst of the Garraf Massif. This is a subzone of DO Penedès a few kilometres from the Mediterranean sea. The area has calcareous soils with an abundance of marine fossils that bring a remarkable minerality to the grapevines.
Produced by Can Ràfols dels Caus, Gran Caus Blanc is made mostly from old-vines Xarel·lo, complemented with Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc, this one coming from 25-year-old vines.
Separately harvested and vinified, the grapes were destemmed and gently pressed, in order to use only the «free-run» juice. After being fermented in stainless steel tanks, this organic white wine was clarified, blended, bottled and aged for a minimum of 12 months before being released onto the market.
We suggest that you decant Gran Caus Blanc 2021 a minimum of 30 minutes before drinking.
Incidentally, Can Ràfols dels Caus is a member of Grandes Pagos de España, a group of terroir-orientated, like-minded producers that features some of the best wineries in Spain.

| Nose | Well-balanced and quite precise. Remembrances of citrus and honey, alongside aromas of dry fruit, smoke, yellow fruit, flowers and herbs. This blend of Xarel·lo, Chenin and Chardonnay suggests some dim mineral undertones on the background. |

| Our personal opinion | The winery wisely decided not to age Gran Caus Blanc 2021 in oak. After tasting the wine we can say that its complexity does not need any sort of wood make-up. |
