This remarkable organic Spanish white wine is made from vineyards located in the midst of the Garraf Massif. This is a subzone of DO Penedès a few kilometres from the Mediterranean sea. The area has calcareous soils with an abundance of marine fossils that bring a remarkable minerality to the grapevines.
Produced by Can Ràfols dels Caus, Gran Caus Blanc is made mostly from old-vines Xarel·lo, complemented with Chardonnay and Chenin Blanc, this one coming from 25-year-old vines.
Separately harvested and vinified, the grapes were destemmed and gently pressed, in order to use only the «free-run» juice. After being fermented in stainless steel tanks, this organic white wine was clarified, blended, bottled and aged for a minimum of 12 months before being released onto the market.
We suggest that you decant Gran Caus Blanc 2021 a minimum of 30 minutes before drinking.
