Produced by Marqués de Riscal, Finca Torrea is a blend of Tempranillo and Graciano sourced from the vineyard which gives the wine its name, Finca de Torrea. The plot has clayey-limestone soils and it is planted with old vines.
The grapes were hand-harvested and meticulously selected. Once in the cellar, they were destemmed, selected again and gently pressed. This Spanish red wine from La Rioja was then fermented in Allier oak vats at a controlled temperature, with periodic, gently performed pump-overs aimed at extracting aromatic compounds.
The malolactic fermentation of this red wine from La Rioja took place in French oak barrels, followed by a 18-month ageing period. Finally, Finca Torrea 2017 was aged for a further months in the bottle before its commercial release.
It is worth noting that this Crianza red wine is produced in an international, fruit-forward style that differs from the classic Rioja profile which defines most Marqués de Murrieta wines.
