Produced by Celler Espelt, Espelt Terres Negres is born in the rugged, windswept region of L’Empordà, a northern Catalan region bordering France.
This blended Spanish red wine is made from 86% Carignan and 14% Lledoner Negre (aka Grenache), both coming from 60 to 80-year-old vines planted in slate and granite soils.
Manually harvested at their optimal ripening state, the grapes were gently crushed and fermented for 21 days with the skins. After that, this red wine from Empordà completed malolactic fermentation in oak barrels.
Then Espelt Terres Negres 2019 was aged for 12 months in new and used French oak barrels and oak vats.
Finally, this organic red wine was aged for a further months on its lees, and for some months in the bottle before its commercial release.
Decant this Crianza red wine 30 minutes before drinking.
