Coming from rugged, windswept DO Empordà, Espelt Coma Bruna ranks among the best wines produced in that northern Catalan region.
This one-of-a-kind Spanish red wine is a varietal Carignan sourced from vineyards over 100 years of age – they were planted in 1901 – situated in the Albera mountain range, on the southern side of the Pyrenées.The soils are mainly composed of slate.
Produced by Espelt Viticultors, the vinification process of this red wine from L’Empordà was meticulous. After a manual harvesting and a careful selection, the grapes were cold soaked for 3 days and then fermented in stainless steel tanks.
After that, Espelt Coma Bruna 2017 was transferred into used French oak barrels, where it completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for 13 months.
Decant this Crianza red wine a minimum of 1 hour before drinking.
