Produced by Bodega Terramoll in beautiful Formentera, the smallest inhabited Balearic island, Es Virot a blended Spanish red wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
The grapes come from 20-year-old flatland vineyards with limestone soils. They are located in a dry area which, besides getting a lot of sunlight, is constantly swept by the sea wind. Those factors keep the vines healthy and strong.
Hand-harvested in late August. the grapes were selected and then refrigerated for 18 hours. Then they were destemmed, gently crushed and macerated for 3-4 days. Alcoholic fermentation was carried out in stainless steel tanks under controlled temperature. After 10 days, Es Virot 2018 was aged for 3 months in semi new French oak barrels. Before bottling, this Crianza red wine was transferred again into the steel tanks and aged for a further 12 months.
