Produced by Celler Vinyes Domenech, Empelts de Garnatxa Peluda is the result of an interesting process.
In 2011, cuttings of Hairy Grenache sorted from the vines used to produce Teixar, the winery’s flaghsip Spanish red wine, were grafted onto old Cabernet Sauvignon rootstocks planted in clayey-limestone soils. This organic red wine from DO Montsant is produced from those grafted vines.
Picked by hand and meticulously selected at the vineyard, the grapes were macerated and fermented in stainless steel tanks. After that, Empelts de Garnatxa Peluda 2020 was aged in new and used 50% American and 50% French oak barrels for 12 months.
The production of this red wine from Montsant is very limited.
Decant this Crianza red wine some time before drinking.
