An absolute classic from La Rioja, Cune Imperial Gran Reserva just keeps getting better with each vintage.
Over the last years, the winery has gradually cut down on the use of oak, a decision which has improved the quality of this Spanish red wine.
This blended Gran reserva red wine is made from Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuela (Carignan) all coming from estate-owned vineyards located in the cooler, higher-altitude zone of La Rioja Alta.
Crafted by the prestigious Cvne winery (acronym of Compañía Vinícola del Norte de España), the grapes of were meticulously harvested and cold-macerated. Alcoholic fermentation took place in French and American oak vats, while malolactic fermentation was completed in French and American oak barrels.
After that, Cune Imperial Gran Reserva 2016 was aged for 24 months. Finally, it was clarified with egg whites and aged for 36 months in the bottle before its release.
