Produced by Celler de Capçanes, Costers del Gravet is an interesting Spanish red wine from Montsant.
It is made from a blend of 35% Carignan, 33% Grenache and 32% Cabernet Sauvignon
The vines are 15 to 60 years of age. They are planted on terraces composed of slate and limestone soils and located at altitudes between 300 and 500 metres.
Harvested by hand, the grapes were separately fermented according to the variety. Alcoholic fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation started in the tanks and was finished in new and 2nd year French oak barrels. Then this Montsant red wine was aged in the barrels for 12 months.
Finally, Costers del Gravet 2020 was aged for a further 3 months in diposits to round it and enhance its balance.
