This excellent Spanish red wine crafted by the talented winemaker Albert Jané, head of Acústic Celler, is one of the best expressions of the southern Catalan region of Montsant. A wine region, incidentally, whose terroir shares many traits with the neighbouring – and more expensive – Priorat.
Made essentially from Samsó (Carignan) with a tinge of Grenache, Braó comes from very old, low-yielding, certified organic vines grown in rocky soils.
Manually harvested and selected at the vineyard, the grapes were brought to the cellar in little boxes and macerated with several daily pump-overs. Once alcoholic fermentation was completed, Braó 2019 was transferred into new and 2nd year French oak barrels, where it completed malolactic fermentation and was subsequently aged for 12 months.
Neither filtered nor clarified prior to its bottling, this red wine from Montsant should be decanted at least 1 hour before you drink it.
