This is the new vintage of Botani Moscatel Seco, also known as Botani Moscatel Old Vines, crafted by the prestigious Jorge Ordóñez & Co winery.
Interestingly, this Spanish white wine is the first dry varietal Moscatel de Alejandría (Muscat of Alexandria) produced in DO Sierras de Málaga.
The grapes come vines 70-years-old on average, planted in the Axarquía region. This is a remote, almost inacessible area located right in the heart of the Málaga mountains. The plants grow in very poor, decomposed slate soils, and some of them are over 100 years old.
Harvest started in July and lasted until mid October. Meticulously selected, the grapes were transported to the cellar by mules. Then Botani Moscatel Seco 2021 was fermented in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts and then aged for 7 months on lees.
We suggest that you drink this white wine from Málaga at a temperature of 6-7ºC in order to preserve its gentle, mildly sweet character.
Pair this white wine aged on lees with fish recipes.
