The prestigious winemaker Joan Asens, head of bodega Orto Vins, is the producer of this Spanish white wine.
A varietal White Grenache, Blanc d’Orto Brisat is crafted following the ancestral brisat technique, which consists in macerating the wine must with the grape skins for a substantial period of time. The resulting wine has the same characteristics as an orange wine.
The grapes were sorted from three small vineyards located in DO Montsant and farmed following organic and biodynamic techniques. The vines, 20 to 75 years old, are planted in limestone soils.
This varietal brisat white wine was fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks, with gentle pump-overs, and then macerated for a whole lunar cycle (28 days). After that, the white wine Blanc d’Orto Brisat 2020 was aged on lees for a period of 6 months, and for a further 4 lees without the lees. the wine was gently filtered before bottling.
This is a substantial, highly characteristic Crianza white wine.
