This is the new vintage of Biu de Sort, a high-altitude Spanish white wine produced by Celler Batlliu de Sort, a company based in the mountainous region of Pallars Sobirà (Lleida).
Made from 85% Riesling and 15% Viognier, the grapes come Finca La Borda, a vineyard with slate soils located at an altitude over 900 metres above sea level.
The winery is committed to implementing environmentally-friendly farming practices, following the guidelines of organic and biodynamic agriculture.
Harvest of this high-altitude white wine was performed by hand. The grapes were vinified in stainless steel tanks and aged on its lees for over a period of 10 months.
After that, Biu de Sort 2018 was aged for another 14 months in the bottle before its commercial release.
This is a very pure, interesting Crianza white wine from DO Costers del Segre, right on the Catalan side of the Pyrénées.
