First produced in 1986, this high-end Spanish red wine is a modern La Rioja classic crafted by the Marqués de Riscal winery.
Originally, the idea behind Barón de Chirel Reserva was to craft a first-class, modern-style product from the oldest vines of the winery.
The wine is mainly produced from Tempranillo (around 70% of the blend), complemented by Grenache, Graciano and Mazuelo, as it is customary in the region. The vines are 80 to over 100 years old.
Produced only in exceptional vintages, the grapes were harvested by hand and vinified in French wooden vats. Malolactic fermentation took place in fine-grained French oak barrels, after which this Reserva red wine was aged for 20 months.
Finally, the wine was aged for a minimum of two years in the bottle prior to its release.
Decant Barón de Chirel Reserva 2015 1 hour minimum before drinking.
This Rioja red wine has a remarkable ageing potential.
