The interesting Bàrbara Forés El Quintà is a varietal White Grenache coming from DO Terra Alta. That region in Catalonia, incidentally, is home to one third of all the world’s White Grenache vineyards.
Produced by Celler Bàrbara Forés, this Spanish white wine is crafted from two plots of over 60-year-old vines which totalize less than 2 hectares. They are planted in sandy soils with an abundance of silica fossils, at an altitude above 350 metres.
Harvested by hand, the grapes were cold-macerated for 24 hours and then fermented. Bàrbara Forés El Quintà 2020 was subsequently aged for 6 months on its lees in 500-litre French oak barrels from Allier.
Decant this organic white wine some time before drinking.
«Quintà» in Catalan, by the way, means a parcel that can be farmed by one single owner.
