Produced by Grandes Vinos y Viñedos, Anayón Selección is a blended Spanish red wine made from Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.
The grapes come from vines, 25 to 50 years old, grown in sandy and rocky soils, at altitudes between 500 and 700 metres, in Sierra de Algairén, DO Cariñena, (not to be confused with the Carignan/Cariñena variety).
Once in the celler, each variety was separately vinified. First, they were macerated for 4-5 days, and then this Crianza red wine was fermented with frequent pump-overs and rackings in order to obtain a more concentrated wine.
After that, Anayón Selección 2020 was macerated again for 15 to 20 days. Finally, each variety was aged in a different kind of barrel: Navarra oak barrels for Tempranillo, French oak barrels for Cabernet Sauvignon, and American oak barrels for Syrah. All three were aged for a period of 11 months.
Finally, this red wine from DO Cariñena was blended, bottled, and aged for a further months before hitting the market.
11,050 bottles produced.
