This is a very good wine from Montilla-Moriles, crafted solely from Pedro Ximénez grapes by the oldest winery of this region, Bodegas Alvear.
The grapes were naturally sun-dried and then Alvear Pedro Ximénez 1927 was aged in used American oak barrels following the traditional “soleras y criaderas” system of rotation for five years. We should enjoy this wine over the next 3-4 years.
A wine that will seduce you from the very first sip, Alvear Pedro Ximénez 1927 will enhance and prolong any after-dinner conversation. We would recommend that you drink this fortified sweet wine without food, in the afternoon with sweet pastries or perhaps with dark, bitter chocolate.
A suggestion: if you want to give your dishes a sophisticated twist, prepare a reduction of this wine to dress foie gras, red meats, or a salad. The versatility of this wine is difficult to match. Besides, it has an exceptional price.
